Macquarie shares details about upcoming sale of waste management company Wheelabrator

Macquarie Infrastructure Partners has revealed it will look to sell the power plants of waste management company Wheelabrator in September in a deal valued at more than $600 million, according to Reuters.

Wheelabrator is a portfolio company of Macquarie Infrastructure Partners IV, according to the company’s website. Wheelabrator has 25 facilities strategically located in the United States and the United Kingdom. The company has 16 operating waste-to-energy facilities in these countries, three waste-to-energy facilities under construction in the United Kingdom, two waste fuel facilities and four ash monofills.

Waste-to-energy facilities deliver clean, renewable electric power to major utilities for distribution to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses. Wheelabrator also operates a variety of waste fuel facilities designed to generate electricity using an assortment of waste fuels, including waste wood and waste coal.
