Macquarie Capital has submitted a nonbinding offer for 49 percent of Chilean telecom company GTD’s subsidiary focusing on data centers in Chile, Peru and Colombia. The transaction also includes land slated for future data centers.
GTD operates six data centers across Chile, Colombia and Peru. The company also plans to extend networks and build data centers in Lurín, Peru, and Barranquilla, Colombia, as part of a five-year, $600 million investment plan, according to BNamericas.
“The sites [for the new data centers] have already been purchased and we expect to be able to start construction in [2023], but obviously it will depend on bidding and delivery times,” Fernando Gana, president of GTD, told BNamericas. “I would love to be operating in 2024.”
The nonbinding offer assumes a due diligence phase and negotiation of the closing documents. Financial terms were not disclosed.
