Macquarie buys stake in VIRTUS Data Centres in London

Macquarie Asset Management, the world’s largest infrastructure manager and a leading investor in digital infrastructure globally, has agreed to acquire a significant minority stake in VIRTUS Data Centres from ST Telemedia Global Data Centres.

VIRTUS provides colocation and cloud-connectivity services to blue-chip clients, including global technology companies and enterprise clients. Its portfolio comprises 11 data center facilities in Greater London with a combined capacity of more than 180 megawatts, and an initial 100-megawatt pipeline of projects under consideration in prime locations across the United Kingdom and Europe. VIRTUS sources its electricity needs from renewable energy and is targeting net-zero emissions across its data center operations by 2030.

Macquarie made the acquisition via its Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 7 (MEIF7), which is targeting a pipeline of European infrastructure assets that occupies a strategic competitive advantage in sector
