Macquarie Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Fund 4 (MAIF4), a fund managed by Macquarie Asset Management (MAM), and Gabia, a cloud-specialized IT company in South Korea, have announced a strategic partnership to develop a next generation hyperscale data center platform in South Korea.
Under a joint venture agreement signed on Feb. 25, the two companies will jointly invest approximately KRW 600 billion ($396 million) during the next four to six years. The platform aims to develop more than 100 megawatts of data center capacity across key metropolitan and regional locations in South Korea.
The partnership’s first project will be the Ansan Data Center, a 40-megawatt facility. Positioned to serve as a critical artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure hub for the Seoul metropolitan region, the Ansan development will complement Gabia’s newly completed Gwacheon data center, which has been optimized to support graphic processing unit (GPU)-intensive and high-density workloads
