Macquarie Asset Management acquires leading recycling business in Washington

by Kali Persall

A fund managed by Macquarie Asset Management (MAM) has acquired DTG Recycle (DTG), an independent, vertically integrated, non-municipal solid waste (MSW) recycling business in Washington state. Financial terms were not disclosed.

DTG has a network of collection assets that includes more than 3,900 containers, a fleet of more than 270 vehicles and 12 materials-recovery facilities across the Puget Sound region and a landfill.

After the transaction, the new ownership structure will accelerate DTG’s growth trajectory and solidify its leadership position as the largest privately held, vertically integrated non-MSW recycling business in Washington state.

As part of the transaction, Tom Vaughn will continue as CEO, and Dan Guimont will become chief development officer. Both Vaughn and Guimont will be members of the board of managers of DTG and will retain an ownership stake in the company alongside MAM.
