KPERS names Bruce Fink as new CIO

by Kali Persall

The $24.8 billion Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) has appointed Bruce Fink to the position of CIO.

Fink, who has served as deputy CIO since 2013, replaces Elizabeth B.A. Miller, who retired in July after 11 years in the role.

As deputy CIO, Fink was responsible for the system’s public markets investment program. He led strategy development and manager oversight for the global equity, fixed income, REIT, MLP and real return portfolios, according to his LinkedIn page. He also sourced and conducted due diligence on new investment strategies and managers across the public markets.

Before KPERS, Fink served as director of investments at Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Ind. He previously was director of investments at Hufford Financial Advisors, CIO at the Indiana Public Employees Retirement Fund and pension-fund manager at the City of Cincinnati Retirement System.
