KKR brings new infra fund to market in Asia Pacific

by Kali Persall

KKR has launched a new fund to invest in infrastructure assets in Asia Pacific, KKR Asia Pacific Infrastructure Investors II.

The initial fund in the series, KKR Asia Pacific Infrastructure Investors, closed in January 2021 with $3.9 billion of equity commitments. At its final closing, KKR Asia Pacific Infrastructure Investors became the largest pan-regional infrastructure fund to have been raised for Asia Pacific.

KKR Asia Pacific Infrastructure Investors will invest in critical infrastructure with low volatility and strong downside protection in Asia Pacific. The fund has a broad investment mandate across both emerging and developed Asia Pacific in sectors such as waste, renewables, power and utilities, telecommunications, and transportation infrastructure. It is believed that Fund II will follow the same strategy.

A fundraising target was not confirmed for Fund II at the time of publication.
