KGAL invests in wind farm repowering near Bremen

by Released

KGAL Investment Management has acquired a wind farm in northwestern Germany for an institutional fund mandate. The project involves the repowering of the site, with a future total capacity of 14 megawatts. Completion is scheduled for third quarter 2026. The seller is Energiequelle GmbH.

The Rekum wind farm is located near Bremen, on the northern state border with Lower Saxony, and comprises two wind turbines. As part of the repowering, the existing Enercon turbines will be replaced by more powerful models from the manufacturer Nordex with the intention of increasing the original nominal capacity from 1.8 megawatts to 14 megawatts. The wind farm had already secured a 20-year feed-in tariff under the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) in 2023. The construction phase in Bremen-Rekum is expected to be completed in third quarter 2026. Following grid connection, the wind farm will feed approximately 38,700 megawatt-hours of green electricity into the grid annually.
