John Laing recruits Macquarie to sell Australian renewable assets

John Laing Group, a U.K. infrastructure company, is looking to sell a 500-megawatt portfolio consisting of five wind and solar farms, according to Australian Financial Review (AFR).

Macquarie Capital has been enlisted to help locate a buyer, which AFR says could potentially be a big strategic investor looking to establish a foothold in the Australian market.

John Laing has yet to launch a formal bidding process for the assets, but it is likely to do so in the coming months.

Last year, the infrastructure company experienced performance issues on a number of assets and, as a result, in August 2019, it announced plans to halt renewable-energy investments in Europe and Australia and was looking to limit transactions in North America.
