Jeffrey Mathews joins Principal Asset Management as head of origination and structuring, private infrastructure

Principal Asset Management has hired Jeffrey Mathews as managing director, head of origination and structuring, private infrastructure.

Mathews will lead transaction origination for infrastructure investments globally. He joins Principal from Barclays, where he served as a managing director of investment banking in the energy, power and climate technology group. In this role, he oversaw the origination and execution of infrastructure transactions while advising issuers on asset M&A, project finance and private placements across debt and equity.

Mathews also was involved in strategic initiatives at Barclays, including its $1 trillion sustainable finance goal and the launch of a sustainable project finance lending platform in 2023.

He brings more than 18 years of banking experience across energy, power, cleantech, digital, transportation and other infrastructure sectors, with a history of delivering new and innovative capital structuring opportunities.
