by Kali Persall

Infratil, a New Zealand–based infrastructure investment company that owns renewable energy, digital infrastructure, airports and healthcare assets, has established a new Australian renewable-energy platform — Mint Renewables.

Mint Renewables will invest in the development of wind, solar photovoltaics and storage solutions across Australia. It replicates the platform model of Tilt Renewables, which Infratil sold its 65.5 percent stake in last year for NZ$2 billion ($1.3 billion).

Infratil owns a 73 percent interest in Mint Renewables, and CSC will own the remaining 27 percent. The investment involves initial capital commitments of A$300 million ($203 million), with Infratil’s share being A$219 million ($148 million), which is expected to be invested during the next three to five years.

Infratil is investing in Mint Renewables alongside the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC). The investment will be managed on behalf of Infratil and CSC by Morrison
