Infrastructure plan still in the works despite potential Trump impeachment

Despite talk of a potential second impeachment of President Donald Trump, officials say a large infrastructure package is still on the table.

Sen. Charles Schumer, the incoming leader of the new Democratic Senate majority, told The Buffalo (N.Y.) News that impeachment would not stop the rollout of a significant infrastructure initiative, along with a coronavirus stimulus bill that includes bigger individual payments, as well as state and local aid.

Schumer is expected to become majority leader once the runoff election results are certified in Georgia, which can happen no later than Jan. 22, two days after the inauguration of the new president. In an interview with The Buffalo News, Schumer said that though an impeachment trial could take weeks, the goal is to keep the agenda moving along.
