Igneo-backed Patriot Rail acquires railroad holding company Pioneer Lines

Patriot Rail Company, a Jacksonville, Fla.–based company majority owned by Igneo Infrastructure Partners, has agreed to acquire Denver-based Pioneer Lines, a railroad holding company from BRX Transportation Holdings.

Pioneer Lines operates 15 short-line railroads across 12 states. Patriot Rail expects the acquisition to support its growth strategy and help drive new pathways connecting with U.S. and global markets. The deal will increase Patriot Rail’s short-line operations from 16 railroads to 31, enabling the company to serve customers in new markets in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
