iCON Infrastructure takes majority stake in Denmark’s Wind Estate

iCON Infrastructure Partners V has acquired a 95 percent interest in Wind Estate A/S from its founders Jens Petri Petersen and CEO Erik Abraham.

Wind Estate is a Danish independent power producer owning 282 megawatts of operating onshore and offshore wind power generation capacity in Denmark and Scotland. In addition to the operating portfolio, Wind Estate also owns 105 megawatts of advanced-stage development assets of which 44 megawatts are in construction, 34 megawatts are fully permitted and 27 megawatts are expected to receive final permits in 2021.

The company also owns a pipeline of 1.2 gigawatts of early-stage onshore development projects in Denmark, Scotland and Greece. In addition, the early-stage development of substantial offshore capacity is also under way. Given the large footprint of operating assets, the company is also well placed to pursue repowering projects in Denmark.
