CON Infrastructure has acquired a majority stake in three German fiber-related businesses – ropa, NGN Telecom and Wisotel – via its iCON Infrastructure Partners V1 (iCON V) fund.
In May 2020, iCON V hit $1.9 billion, exceeding its $1.8bn target.
The three acquired companies are known as the SFN Group, an independent, vertically integrated fiber- and cable-telecommunications business based in Germany. The business primarily serves the retail market with a focus in the regions of Baden Wuerttemberg and Lower Saxony. The SFN Group plans to grow fiber-network coverage through follow-on acquisitions and additional network development.
The investment is iCON's first in the German telecommunications sector.
