Iberdrola and AXA IM Alts have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate in the deployment of offshore wind energy in France.
Under this agreement, AXA IM Alts would participate as a minority shareholder in the development of a wind farm of about 1,000 megawatts in Normandy if Iberdrola is awarded the project. Iberdrola already has been shortlisted in an auction for the project.
The submission of bids for this tender, denominated AO4, will take place on Nov. 10 and the award is scheduled for first quarter 2023. The future site will be located more than 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) off the coast of Normandy, in an area with favorable wind and seabed conditions for this technology.
In addition to this tender, Iberdrola has also been prequalified for the development of three other offshore wind energy projects of 250 megawatts each. Two are located in the Gulf of Lion in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, which are expected to be awarded in the fall of 20
