Iberdrola has selected Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) as the preferred bidder to supply and install some of the world’s most powerful and productive offshore wind turbines for its £6.5 billion ($8.8 billion) East Anglia Hub program.
This builds on the companies’ track record of working together to deliver the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm, which was completed last year and has delivered significant jobs and economic benefits for the East of England.
The East Anglia Hub projects have the potential to deliver more than 7.5 percent of the United Kingdom’s 40-gigawatt target for offshore wind generation by 2030 as set out in the government’s Ten Point Plan.
