Hexagon AB’s R-evolution, a business venture focused on reinventing how industry addresses complex environmental challenges, has acquired a 40-hectare (99-acre) site in Spain.
Located just north of Málaga airport, the acquisition includes a newly constructed 8.24-megawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) park. Site expansion plans, which are already under way, involve doubling the park’s peak capacity to 16.44 megawatts, enough to power all the households of Archidona every year and offset the equivalent of 8,400 tons of CO2 equivalents per year.
R-evolution is planning to operate and expand the park’s efficiency by using Hexagon’s sensor hardware and software monitoring solutions. This is the first of R-evolution’s plans to digitize solar energy production.
