Hannon Armstrong invests in 1.6GW renewable portfolio

Hannon Armstrong Sustainable Infrastructure Capital, Inc. has invested in a 1.6-gigawatt onshore wind and utility-scale solar portfolio developed and managed by Clearway Energy Group.

The renewables portfolio consists of 874 megawatts of onshore wind, 192 megawatts of utility-scale solar, and 557 megawatts of utility-scale solar with 395 megawatts of colocated storage — representing a total of seven projects located in four states. The developer, Clearway Energy Group, is one of the largest developers and operators of clean energy in the United States with a pipeline of 9 gigawatts of renewable energy through 2022.

Hannon Armstrong expects to invest a total of $663 million in the portfolio. The company has funded approximately $200 million of its investment to date and expects to fund the remaining portion in 2021 and 2022.
