Gresham House Energy Storage Fund acquires 25MW battery project in U.K.

Gresham House Energy Storage Fund has acquired the 25-megawatt Tynemouth battery project in the United Kingdom from Enel Global Thermal Generation. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Tynemouth is a battery-only site that was commissioned in 2018 and is connected to the distribution network. The acquisition follows on the heels of GRID’s recent acquisitions of the 50-megawatt Wickham and 50-megawatt Thurcroft projects.

In addition, Gresham House recently wrapped up construction of the 10-megawatt expansion of the Glassenbury portfolio project in Kent. The project is expected to be commissioned by Jan. 31, 2021. This extension will increase the operational capacity at the site of the original Glassenbury project to 50 megawatts.

In December 2020 Gresham House announced the conditional acquisition of the 30-megawatt Byers Brae project in Scotland, which will increase the portfolio capacity to 380 megawatts upon completion.
