GreenGo, an Italian independent power producer specializing in developing renewable-energy solutions, has acquired the share capital of a company owning a project for the construction of a battery energy-storage system (BESS) in the Province of Catanzaro, Calabria, in Italy. Neither the company nor financial terms were disclosed.
The strategic program envisages the installation near a grid node of a state-of-the-art energy-storage system, with a total capacity of 120 megawatts and 480 megawatt hours of energy storage in charge and discharge cycles.
GreenGo said the acquisition represents a significant step in the company’s growth strategy, extending its BESS portfolio to about 400 megawatts — of which 250 megawatts are in the advanced-authorization phase. To date, GreenGo’s pipeline has reached 1.7 gigawatts, with a total of 0.9 gigawatts of renewable projects under approval and more than 210 megawatts already approved and ready to build.
