Greencoat Capital considers strategic sale

by Kali Persall

Greencoat Capital is mulling a potential sale as it weighs its strategic options, sources with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg.

The European renewable infrastructure investor is in early discussions with potential advisers, and the firm could attract interest from other fund managers looking to gain expertise in environmentally friendly investments, according to sources.

Greencoat Capital is one of the United Kingdom’s largest investors in the resource efficiency and renewable energy market, with approximately £5.5 billion ($7.6 billion) in assets under management, according to the firm’s website. Greencoat invests in wind infrastructure, solar infrastructure and private equity.

The company runs Greencoat U.K. Wind, a major renewable infrastructure fund that targets operating wind farms throughout the United Kingdom. The fund is currently invested in 35 wind farms, both onshore and offshore, with net generating capacity of 979 megawatts.
