Google, NVIDIA and Emerald AI launch alliance to advance flexible AI data centers that adapt to grid conditions

Google, NVIDIA and Emerald AI, a technology startup that transforms AI data centers into flexible grid assets, have launched a first-of-its-kind coalition to advance flexible AI data centers that can dynamically manage their electricity use in response to grid conditions.

As power has become a defining constraint on the expansion of U.S. AI infrastructure, the goal of the AI Energy Management Alliance (AEMA) will seek to build AI infrastructure that doesn’t just connect to the grid but works with it, according to a statement from NVIDIA.

NVIDIA notes traditional interconnection processes were designed around facilities with flat, static electricity demand. They weren’t built for computing infrastructure capable of responding intelligently when the power system is constrained.
