Google has confirmed plans to build two new data centers overseas, according to multiple media outlets.
The firm will build its fourth data center in Taiwan, describing the location as strategically well suited to Asian data transfer hubs. Google currently has two data centers in Taiwan, one in Changhua County and the other in Tainan.
And in Europe, Google will build a hyperscale data center near Fredericia, Denmark. In addition to the investment in the data center near Fredericia, Google is also part of a consortium of companies that have invested in a new subsea cable between the United States and the West Coast of Denmark — called Havfrue subsea cable — which is set to double Denmark’s Internet connectivity to North America.
