Ghelamco, a European real estate investor and developer, has commenced construction of more than 10 megawatts of photovoltaic farms in six locations within the Opole region of Poland.
The contract related to the implementation of the first of the farms was concluded with the Polish company Revolt Energy.
The first photovoltaic farms will cover the annual energy demand for Warsaw Unit, which will be the developer’s first skyscraper to become 100 percent powered by clean energy. The skyscraper is already the most ecological office building in Poland, yet by using renewable energy, the carbon dioxide emissions for the Warsaw Unit will be reduced by 53 percent over its entire lifecycle.
Following this endeavor, Ghelamco aims to power its office buildings, its current investments and its own office space with energy generated from its own renewable sources.
“We have been buying energy with green certificates since 2015, but this was not sufficient,” said
