French banks partner to improve anaerobic digestion projects

by Kali Persall

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Banque des Territoires (CDC), have partnered to promote proper structuring of small-scale anaerobic digestion projects through what the groups are calling a “Methanization toolbox.”

This tool aims to improve the financial solidity of French projects in the field of biogas (methane) production and industrial waste recycling in the segment of the small installations market, according to EIB. These projects will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions, dependence on fossil fuels and increase the share of renewable energies in the energy mix.

The EIB will provide more than half of the financing, with CDC contributing the remaining portion.

The tool is expected to be via a platform on the internet by 2021.
