Foresight Group and independent solar development platform Elgin Energy have forged a joint venture to develop 200 megawatts of greenfield solar farms across the United Kingdom.
According to Renews.Biz, the joint venture is planning six projects in England, Wales and Scotland.
“At Foresight, we are pursuing opportunities for our investors that can offer strong returns from de-risked structures,” said Peter Bolton, director at Foresight. “The need to meet net-zero targets and the potential reintroduction of government support will further encourage the deployment of utility-scale solar.”
Foresight’s infrastructure team invests heavily into the energy transition and the global decarbonization agenda, according to the firm’s website. In 2018, Foresight completed the acquisition of the 72-megawatt solar farm known as Shotwick, the largest solar farm in the United Kingdom at the time.
