First Sentier Investors predicts rosy outlook for global listed infrastructure in 2022

Global listed infrastructure finished strong at the end of 2021, with towers/data centers and utilities leading the asset class in December, according to a new 2022 outlook from First Sentier Investors.

Peter Meany, head of global listed infrastructure at First Sentier Investors, said the overall outlook for the listed infrastructure asset class in 2022 is positive, and the firm remains optimistic about the substantial investment opportunities associated with the decarbonization of the world’s energy needs.

According to the report, the United States led the way as the best performing infrastructure region due to positive returns from its towers, utilities and railroads. The worst performing infrastructure region was Australia/New Zealand, reflecting relatively muted gains from its transport infrastructure stocks, and the infrastructure sector that logged the worst performance was pipelines.
