WEC Energy Group has proposed to build the first large-scale solar and battery storage project in Wisconsin.
According to WEC, the facility features 200 megawatts of solar generation and 110 megawatts of battery storage, which can discharge stored solar-generated power when the sun goes down. If approved, the 310-megawatt Paris Solar-Battery Park would be the largest facility of its kind in the state.
The company filed the battery and solar storage proposal on Feb. 17 with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. If it moves forward, WEC Energy Group utilities We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service would own 90 percent of the project, and Madison Gas and Electric would own the remaining 10 percent.
