Fidra Energy reaches financial close on 500MW West Burton C battery energy storage project

Fidra Energy, a European battery energy storage system (BESS) platform backed by EIG and the National Wealth Fund, recently reached financial close on its West Burton C battery energy storage project in Nottinghamshire, England.

West Burton C is a 500-megawatt/1.1-gigawatt-hour BESS project located on the site of the former West Burton coal power station, adjacent to the site selected for the United Kingdom’s first prototype fusion energy plant. The project is being developed by Fidra, building on the successful financing and construction of its Thorpe Marsh project in South Yorkshire.

Fidra obtained ÂŁ231 million ($310 million) of loan facilities from a club of international lenders, in addition to an investment by EIG and the National Wealth Fund, representing a ÂŁ250 million ($335 million) investment in U.K. infrastructure.
