The Florida Department of Transportation has plans for a $2.3 billion rebuild of two, 20-mile sections of Interstate 4, which will connect to the western and eastern ends of the current I-4 Ultimate expansion project in Orlando, according to Orlando Weekly.
The FDOT will begin with the western leg of the project. The eastern portion has yet to receive funding.
When the western edge of the expansion is complete, the agency will have added 62 bridges and replaced 27 existing ones, as well as have created sidewalks along nearby county roads and other pedestrian-friendly upgrades.
