Social media giant Facebook Inc. has revealed plans to buy 806 megawatts of renewable energy across the U.S. and Ireland, according to Bloomberg.
The additional solar and wind power will come from eight projects in Utah, Ohio, Illinois, Tennessee and Ireland and involve various developers, including Brookfield Renewable Partners, D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments, and Apex Clean Energy.
Bloomberg reported Facebook has deals for more than 5 gigawatts of clean power and is expecting to bring another 1.5 gigawatts of wind and solar power online by the end of the year.
Last week, Facebook signed a power-purchase agreement with Apex Clean Energy for 170 megawatts of renewable power through the Lincoln Land Wind energy project in Illinois.
The deal marks Facebook’s third renewable transaction with Apex alone in the past year.
