Global asset management firm Barings has co-led a A$370 million ($240 million) equity raise alongside Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC) to support the continued growth of Pacific Energy Group, Australia’s largest remote energy platform.
Pacific Energy is a provider of sustainable distributed energy that specializes in designing, building, owning and operating power-generating assets for mining companies, businesses, townships and state-owned utilities across Australia. The group, acquired by QIC in 2019, is the only Australian energy producer with in-house capabilities to design and deliver fully integrated energy solutions, including solar, wind, battery storage, green hydrogen, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and diesel technologies, according to QIC. With a contracted capacity of 946 megawatts across 48 sites, the platform is known to efficiently execute complex hybrid and renewable-energy solutions across Australia’s most remote geographies.
