Equitix, a European mid-market infrastructure investor and developer, is selling Enerfarm, its portfolio of five anaerobic digestion and biomethane plants across Northern Italy, to VORN Bioenergy. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Enerfarm was acquired by Equitix in 2022 and has since undergone a significant transformation during the firm’s ownership, evolving from a portfolio of biogas-to-power assets into a biomethane platform positioned to support Italy’s renewable gas ambitions. During the past four years, Equitix has worked closely with management to deliver a number of key milestones such as the successful permitting of four plants to convert from biogas-to-power to anaerobic digestion-to-biomethane facilities, alongside approvals to significantly increase capacity. The business has successfully commenced commissioning activities at two of the upgraded plants.
