Equitix has acquired Helios Energy Investments’ interests in Bio Capital, taking over full ownership of the company.
Bio Capital specializes in anaerobic digestion, with a portfolio of plants across the United Kingdom. The company recycles half a million metric tons of food waste, which, combined with its generation of green energy, avoids up to 360,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually. With the capacity to generate more than 900-gigawatt-hours thermal of biogas each year, Bio Capital is a growing enabler in the decarbonization of the natural gas grid network and displacement of fossil fuel usage in the transport sector.
Since 2018, Equitix and Helios have shared equal ownership of Bio Capital. Helios, renowned for its extensive expertise in renewable energy and biogas, and Equitix, a global investor in infrastructure and operational management, have driven the strategic acquisitions of brownfield operational and turnaround plants, as well as gas grid infrastructure.
