Equitix and its partners have expanded its growing Spanish renewable energy platform with its latest majority acquisition of Canales Sur near Palencia, Spain. The project consists of a 91-megawatt wind farm with the potential to be increased to 120 megawatts, as well as under-development solar photovoltaic and battery storage hybridization projects. The wind farm has signed a new turbine supply and long-term maintenance agreement with Nordex, and balance of plant, substation and evacuation infrastructure contracts with Eiffage.
Canales Sur is the third project acquired from Capital Energy by Equitix under the framework agreement between the companies, and the seventh asset purchase to date since 2024. The agreement gives the platform exclusivity of a 1-gigawatt pipeline of hybrid renewable energy projects. With the project now advancing, the platform has acquired 50 percent of the total planned installed capacity of the pipeline, marking a significant milestone in its growth
