Equitix increases ownership stake in Scotland’s Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm

Equitix confirmed it has agreed to acquire an additional 17.5 percent stake in the Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm in Scotland from The Renewables Infrastructure Group (TRIG), increasing the firm’s ownership in the asset to 35 percent.

Located approximately 13 kilometers (8 miles) from the Caithness coast, Beatrice became fully operational in June 2019 after seven years of development and three years of construction. The wind farm is operated and maintained from its base at Wick Harbour on the northeast coast of Scotland. Its 84 wind turbines are capable of generating enough wind powered electricity for up to 450,000 homes.

With a capital expenditure of around £2.5 billion ($3.4 billion), Beatrice was one of the largest private investments in Scottish infrastructure.​ The project was delivered on time and under budget and is one of Scotland’s largest offshore wind farms.
