Equitix has expanded its Nordic fiber-optic platform, Local Connect, through a series of strategic acquisitions in Sweden.
Local Connect was founded by Equitix in 2022 through the acquisition of Falköping’s fiber operations. The company’s platform has since demonstrated strong organic growth and operational scalability and is now firmly established in Sweden, positioning it for national expansion.
In April, Local Connect acquired fiber assets in the municipalities of Svenljunga and Svedala, marking its entry into new regions. In June, the company also signed an agreement to acquire Öckerö Stadsnät AB, the municipally owned fiber network in Öckerö. This acquisition, pending municipal council approval, represents one of the largest municipal divestments of fiber infrastructure in Sweden.
