Equinix launches fourth data center in Singapore

by Kali Persall

Equinix has opened its fourth data center in Singapore, according to several news sources.

The facility, known as SG4, was backed by an initial commitment of $74 million and is equipped to meet demand for infrastructure that supports telecommuting, according to Data Center News.

The new facility will be located in Tai Seng, one of Singapore’s five data center clusters and will be directly connected to the three existing Equinix data centers in the region via fiber links.

The first phase will encompass more than 45,400 square feet of colocation space, with more than 132,180 square feet at full build-out.

Equinix has been extremely active in its global build-out as of late. Earlier this month, the company opened its third data center in Warsaw, Poland. Earlier this year it launched data centers in Melbourne, Australia, and added three data centers in Mexico to it
