Equinix has opened its fifth data center in Singapore, SG5, a nine-story facility located at the former Singapore Data Center Park, according to Data Center Dynamics.
SG5 is the tallest data center in the regional data center hub. Phase one has more than 41,700 square feet of colocation space and will offer 129,000 square feet of total colocation space at full buildout.
The greenfield facility was built with an initial investment of $144 million.
“Singapore continues to flourish as the regional hub for digital exchange,” said Yee May Leong, managing director of Equinix South Asia. “Global businesses look to Singapore as the key location for where they build their digital infrastructure and leverage the ecosystem and cloud services available to ensure resilience, growth and scale across Asia-Pacific.”
Like the other Equinix facilities in Singapore, SG5 is directly connected to the other four existing Equinix data centers via dark fiber.
