EQT Infrastructure takes ownership of Copia Power

by Kali Arevalo

EQT Infrastructure has acquired Copia Power, a developer of power and digital infrastructure, from global investment firm Carlyle. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Copia Power focuses on gigawatt-scale campuses spanning solar photovoltaic (PV) generation, energy storage, thermal generation and digital assets, such as data centers.

The transaction aligns with EQT’s focus on investing in infrastructure underpinning global demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and supporting energy security, according to the firm. The acquisition of Copia also expands EQT’s growing portfolio of AI infrastructure investments in the United States.

BNP Paribas is acting as financial adviser to EQT and as co-structuring lender and underwriter on the $1 billion bridge loan supporting the transaction. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026.
