Madison Energy Infrastructure, a developer, owner and operator of distributed solar and energy storage projects and a portfolio company of EQT, has launched a community infrastructure partnership with CORE Electric Cooperative, the largest nonprofit, member-owned electric distribution cooperative in Colorado.
As part of the partnership, Madison will deploy a 50-megawatt/200-megawatt-hour battery energy storage portfolio in Colorado to meet local energy needs and deliver benefits to CORE and its members.
Chris Hildred, chief energy supply officer at CORE, said as electricity demand grows this storage will help the company manage peak demand, control power costs and maintain reliable service.
The projects represent Madison’s largest distributed energy storage deployment to date, with commercial operations expected to begin by September 2027. They will use Tesla Megapack technology and are among the first supported by Madison’s $50 million agreement with Tesla.
