Eni subsidiary becomes second-largest Italian EV charge-point operator through BE Power acquisition

by Kali Persall

Italian multinational oil and gas company Eni, through its subsidiary Eni gas e luce, has closed a deal with Zouk Capital and Aretex formalizing the 100 percent acquisition of BE Power.

The deal makes Eni gas e luce is the second-largest Italian electric vehicle charge point operator, with a goal of reaching 30,000 electric-vehicle-charging points on public land by 2025. The company already has established 6,000 charge points.

Eni gas e luce, through Be Power, now is able to install charging infrastructure on public and private land and holds relevant concessions. It also manages its own charging stations and those of other operators through a proprietary-technology platform, and provides charging services to drivers of electric vehicles on its own or third-party charging stations.

The move is in line with Eni's energy-transition strategy to reach total decarbonization of products and processes by 2050.
