Enfinity Global receives €316m to fund 276MW of solar projects in Italy

by Kali Persall

Enfinity Global has locked in €316 million ($368 million) of financing for the construction of eight utility-scale solar power plants in Italy.

The financing was arranged through a club deal structure, with ING, Rabobank and BNP Paribas acting as mandated lead arrangers, lenders, original hedging counterparties and green loan coordinators. The funding package includes €214 million ($249 million) in nonrecourse senior debt alongside €101 million ($118 million) in facilities for VAT financing, letters of credit for power-purchase agreements (PPAs), photovoltaic modules and decommissioning obligations.

With a combined capacity of 276 megawatts, the solar projects are strategically located across the regions of Emilia Romagna, Basilicata and Lazio. The energy generated by this new portfolio is expected to total approximately 403 gigawatt-hours annually, resulting in an estimated reduction of 109,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions each year — equivalent
