EIB supports Milan’s green plan with €200m loan

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has agreed to provide a €200 million ($243 million) framework loan to the city of Milan as part of a program of multi-sectoral investments outlined in the city’s air quality and climate plan. 

The projects will include the upgrading of public buildings with energy efficiency and renewable energy measures; social infrastructure and sustainable urban mobility; solid waste management; recycling centers and open public spaces in the city.  

The first €100 million ($121 million) tranche of the loan was signed on Dec. 16.
