Downing Renewable Developments (DRD) has expanded its development activities into the data center sector, building on its experience developing renewable-energy projects across the United Kingdom and the Nordics.
DRD has established an initial data center development pipeline of more than 500 megawatts of well-advanced projects, alongside a further pipeline of earlier-stage opportunities. The most advanced projects are located in central Sweden and southern Finland, with land already secured and grid connections anticipated before 2030.
Permitting processes for DRD’s first data center sites are expected to begin imminently, with the first projects anticipated to reach powered land status — where land and the necessary power capacity have been secured for future data center development — by fourth quarter 2027.
