Digital Realty has filed an application with the city of Atlanta to build a new data center — it’s fourth in the city.
The goal is to develop a new 10-story data center on what is now a parking lot. The facility will have an approximate floor area of 300,000 square feet and about 130,000 square feet of data center white space, according to Datacenter Dynamics.
Atlanta serves as a hub for transportation and global logistics, and is ranked fifth in overall employment nationally, according to Digital Realty’s website. It also has been named the nation’s second most wired city, and as the most favorable U.S. city for data centers.
The company’s three other data centers in the region include the 313,000-square-foot facility located at 101 Aquila Way, the 153,000-square-foot facility at 56 Marietta St. and the 18,000-square-foot facility at 250 Williams St. NW.
