Digital Colony Management has established a hyperscale data center platform in Sao Paulo, Brazil, through the acquisition of assets from UOL Diveo. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Known as Scala Data Centers, the data center platform will be one of the largest in Brazil, according to Digital Colony, which said it sees a multibillion dollar data center and digital infrastructure opportunity in the region.
As part of the deal, Marcos Peigo, who currently serves as an operating partner at Digital Colony, will become the CEO of Scala.
Peigo most recently served as vice president of value creation for IBM Latin America and as the executive director at UOL Diveo prior to that. Peigo is also the founder and CEO of Lemniscata Ventures, a Brazilian privately held investment company, and CEO of Solvo S/A, a managed services company focused on mission-critical infrastructure.
