Digital 9 Wireless, a wholly owned subsidiary of Digital 9 Infrastructure, has paid €60 million ($66 million) for an enterprise broadband provider in Ireland, marking the firm’s foray into wireless infrastructure.
Leeson Telecom Ltd. (Host Ireland) owns and operates the highest-capacity licensed microwave-based fixed wireless access network in Greater Dublin. It provides high-quality, wireless broadband to 1,600 enterprise customers, including multinational corporates, government bodies and technology companies.
Wireless infrastructure is one of Digital 9’s four target digital subsectors. The investment is in line with the company’s focus on U.N. Sustainable Development Goal 9 — the firm’s namesake — directing the fund toward investments that increase connectivity globally and improve the sustainability of digital infrastructure.
