Developer signs first foreign investment–based independent wind project in Republic of Azerbaijan

ACWA Power, a Saudi developer, investor and operator of power generation and water desalination plants, has signed official agreements for a planned 240-megawatt wind power project located in the Absheron and Khizi regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

As the first foreign investment–based independent wind power project in Azerbaijan structured as a public-private partnership, the plant will contribute to Azerbaijan’s target of 30 percent of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Upon completion, it will power 300,000 households and offset 400,000 tonnes of emissions each year.

Azerenerji OJSC, the largest electrical power producer in the Republic of Azerbaijan, will connect the planned 240-megawatt power plant to the grid and purchase the power to be generated by the plant
